Zambia: Manhood Man Regains Consciousness after cutting off privates

THIRTY-year-old Chris Shapi of Ipusukilo Township in Kitwe, who last week cut off his private parts and ripped his abdomen open in a suicide bid, yesterday regained consciousness as he remained admitted to Kitwe Central Hospital (KCH).
A Times reporter who visited the intensive care unit (ICU) found Mr Shapi asleep, but a relative and health personnel said he had started talking.
Mr Shapi, who last week was gasping for breath, was yesterday found in a deep sleep but looked stable and much more relaxed.
Health personnel said Mr Shapi was much better than the time he was brought to the hospital and was now able to speak although with difficulties.
"He was talking to me just before he slept saying he was feeling tired though he did not seem to know where he is," they said.
Last week on Wednesday, he shocked the residents in Ipusukilo when he cut off his manhood using knives before ripping open his abdomen, and started pulling out his intestines before losing consciousness.
He threw the productive organs on the ground within his yard and was only rescued by neighbours who had mobilised to disarmed him.
Eye witness and sources told the Times that Mr Shapi had complained earlier that he was disappointed with his wife who disserted him after he ran out of money
